Who we areOut of nature, tropical heat and quiet corners of the world - we are live! We arrive stripped of corporate pretence, operating instead as a lean, focused passion project.
For the past few months, I’ve been working non-stop behind the scenes to bring Sarla to life and it feels surreal to finally share it with everyone.
The origin of the venture belongs to the passenger seat of a car traveling through rural India. On long drives with my father, the landscape revealed an intelligent, hyper-local design language. Each village we passed had adapted seamlessly to the rigid demands of the tropical climate, using natural resources to elevate the efficiency and beauty of daily life.
There was a distinct, unhurried genius in these objects: heavy jute baskets woven to carry hay, earthen pots shaped from local clay and etched with precise motifs, and accessories carved from fallen timber. They were not mere souvenirs, but physical archives of regional heritage, climate data, and centuries of tradition.
Sarla was created to introduce this localised craft to a global audience while preserving the integrity of its origin. To maintain that continuity, the entire ecosystem - from the product finishes to the hand-stitched packaging - is sustainably sourced and manufactured entirely by local hands.
Let's work together, there's something for everyone at Sarla - to participate in and contribute to!
Handmade, ethical and sustainable wellness
Sarla is a sustainable wellness lifestyle brand and South Asian cultural house dedicated to sacred home environments, wellbeing rituals and the preservation of artisanal craft.
Sarla is an invitation to slow down and embrace the rituals that have supported wellbeing for generations. We celebrate the hands that carve, the forests that give and the stories that connect us all. This is an assortment of intentional objects, made with kindness and meant to bring a sense of peace to your everyday life.
Sarla exists to honour the artisans, their heritage and the beautiful handicraft that is the result of their cultural lineages that shaped South Asian craft.
We do not rush production.
We do not imitate wellness culture.
We honour the people who came before us.
And we build a future where craft, community and cultural pride are valued.

our vision
Our mission
Connecting our global community to our roots and culture back home via thoroughly designed themes, marketplaces, and workshops.
With our workshops, we aim to inspire our community and the youth to learn ancient crafts of our land, and carry knowledge passed down to us over generations. Pushing for artisans and community to be our teachers will be the most authentic form of learning and a way to revive dying crafts of our own countries and around the world.
Our Brand Impact
Transcending norms
Working with a small team afforded us the liberty to break away from conventional handicraft paradigms rooted in capitalistic ideologies that perpetuate overconsumption and overproduction, leading to resource exploitation in the East.
Resistance through artisanship
We collaborate with various crafts from around the world, building bridges between art forms and finding common ground in ancestral practices.
Equity
We believe that systems are only healthy if they are built on an equitable foundation. We work very closely with our farm partners to understand the specific needs of the land and people.
