Originating from the Bhil communities of central and western India, Bhil paintings were traditionally created on mud walls during festivals, harvests and ceremonies. The signature dotted patterns are inspired by seeds, rainfall, forests and the belief that every living thing carries spirit. Rather than separating humans from nature, Bhil art celebrates their relationship. Every motif tells a story. No two paintings are ever identical.

Bamboo is harvested sustainably. The bamboo is split into thin strips. Each strip is softened and woven entirely by hand. The lid and body are assembled. Bhil artists paint every basket individually using freehand dot work. The basket dries naturally before making its journey to its new home.
